The Secretary’s main role is to maintain all meeting minutes and records for NCABANA. The Secretary also handles all official correspondence on behalf of the organization as well as maintaining the membership list with all names, addresses, phone numbers, and emails.
On February 10, 2018 the board of directors for NCABANA held a quorum to discuss business for 2018. Board members present included Lyle Wheeler (President), Garret Dunn (Vice President), Jennifer Phillips (Secretary), Jim Kennady (Treasurer), Marshall Swaringen (Triad Area Blacksmith Chapter Leader), Steve Barringer (Southern Foothills Blacksmith Leader), Paul Garrett (Brasstown Blacksmiths Leader), Jim “Jeep” Sabo (Future Local Chapter Leader), John Fluke (NCABANA Member), and Andy Phillips (future website master).
Motions were as follows:
1. The treasurer’s report was passed along with the insurance payment and Fire on the Mountain booths.
2. One new member was inducted as lifetime members after a unanimous motion: Al Andrews. An article about this member will be in a later issue.
3. The annual Board meeting was voted on to take place during the first quarter.
Other business included planning the quarterly meetings for 2018, reviewing the treasurer’s reports, discussing newsletters & scholarships, coordinating responsibilities on the Heritage Forge, SBA Conference, new website layout & design, SHHG Exhibit, and coordinating open NCABANA positions.
